Jason is a good friend of mine, and a super talented artist. He has done a lot of the work that I have. The day before Halloween he asked me to come out to Art Monster, on Cherokee, and shoot a mini session of him working. The shop was running a deal on tattoos for Halloween, much in the vein of Friday the thirteenth tattoos. I was excited to do something a little different to add to my portfolio, and to give Jason some shots of him working. Being as Art Monster is well lit, I decided to shoot without any sort of lighting. This worked out great, because the shop had some awesome warm toned spot lights on the ceiling, and Jason was using some colder toned lights in his station. This gave for great contrast while shooting. Most of these photographs were shot with ISO 1000, and I varied from f2.8-f5, depending upon the conditions. I kept a high shutter speed (1/160 or so) to be sure and capture any movement. Jason is definitely a talented artist on the rise. If you're in the market for some custom work, be sure to check him out. His Instagram is @jkrizzle82 or you can contact him on Facebook.
